Useful Information about Therapy
I charge £ 95 for remote based therapy such as telephone psychotherapy or online based therapy. Face to Face sessions are charged at £ 110 per hour. I am accredited with most UK based insurers who either completely or at least partially pay for CBT sessions. This is because I maintain full accreditation with the BABCP, which represents the gold standard in terms of recognition for Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists in the United Kingdom. Sessions are possible to be booked either through self referral or a referral from a medical / mental health professional.
People can have different needs ranging from OCD therapy that is based in London to just receiving general therapy that is near you, it can be difficult to know what kind of psychotherapy may be the best fit for yourself. I therefore offer a no strings attached and free up to fifteen minute consultation in which we explore what your difficulties are and discuss what my approach is about. This will allow us to see whether we are a suitable fit. If not, I can always recommend someone suitable.

How I Work: Telephone Psychotherapy & Psychotherapy in Richmond
No matter if we engage in therapy online, telephone based or psychotherapy in Richmond, we would always start by doing an assessment. This will allow us to understand what the nature of your difficulties are, as people can be suffering from many problems such as anxiety, OCD, or unhelpful perfectionism and there can be a high amount of variance in what exactly is driving and maintaining these difficulties. Someone who is anxious at work may for example notice that they always people please just before experiencing situational anxiety. This can often be a short term fix that maintains their anxiety in the long term (see safety behaviours for further information).
In summary, finding out what your problems are, how and why they may have formed, what maintains them and what usually triggers them in both an immediate and long term can provide a massive benefit as this provides the foundation for implementing straight forward solutions to your difficulties. Distress is no longer just a mess in your head. You'll know what's going on and what to do about it. |
The next stage would be for you to then learn methods of working on your difficulties. The guiding philosophy will always be on finding a tailored approach for yourself whilst keeping any relevant insights and tools / methods you learn as straight forward and simple as possible whilst at the same time achieving a maximum benefit. No one who's really anxious or angry will engage in complex methods and is also likely to forget these after a while.
Details
As one of the few fully accredited online therapists in the UK, my focus on effective behavioural interventions and evolutionary theory will not shift whether we meet face to face for therapy or over the telephone. In fact, studies have shown that online therapy for anxiety or any other issue such as stress or OCD, does not decrease in effectiveness compared to face to face based psychotherapy.
We will always focus on creating hypothesis surrounding the nature of your difficulties and test these by you trying things out in-between sessions. If things don't improve, we would change our understanding of your difficulties (hypotheses) until your difficulties improve. This represents the hallmark of the UCL case formulation model. All of the covered steps and concepts are underpinned by scientific therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy, Schema Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy. |
Sometimes people can have unique needs. Be it that one is housebound due to anxiety or limited in how to engage in therapy due to work pressures. If you feel like your circumstances require a more tailored approach towards treatment, you can get in touch and potential adjustments can be explored.
|
Common requests for tailored therapy include: Home visits, therapy outside of the 9 -5 spectrum, psychotherapy in German. I occasionally also see clients more than once a week if we agree that this can greatly aid thetreatment effectiveness. This can be helpful when engaging in OCD therapy in London or remote based, as exposure and response prevention requires effort and focus.
