Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in Richmond, London and Online & Telephone Therapy

BOOK A SESSION

Welcome to my website. My name is Peter Klein and I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist based in Richmond, London.

I provide face to face therapy in Richmond in addition to telephone therapy and online therapy for Anxiety, OCD, Depression, Stress, Asperger's, Low Self-Esteem and Perfectionism.

My focus is on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT has the strongest research backing of all major psychotherapies, which confirms it's place as an effective and short term (not always) method of psychotherapy.

Its treatment approach is very scientific and has proven to be effective in treating problems such as Anxiety, Stress, Low Self-Esteem, Addiction, Asperger's, OCD and much more.

A major focus is on gaining insight into your difficulties and developing an increased awareness of how automatic problematic patterns such as behaviours express themselves. Based on that, we then see which elements of CBT you can practice in order to directly address relevant difficulties in your life.

I am fully accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. This represents the gold and most recognised standard in the United Kingdom for accrediting CBT Therapists.

I am also accredited with all major health insurance companies.

My Approach

I practice numerous forms of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. These are all scientifically underpinned approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy and Evolutionary Psychology. My main approach to CBT is called the UCL Case Formulation model.

Unlike the CBT one may experience in the NHS through an IAPT self referral, the focus is on getting a tailored, non diagnosis driven understanding of your difficulties. This enables a more effective treatment since cookie cutter approaches aren't the best fit for everyone.

A tailored understanding will provide many benefits including helping you recognise when your problems start getting worse, whilst providing you with very effective tools to work on your difficulties.

Often people do stuff that makes they difficulties get worse and worse. Therefore knowing your patterns and then knowing what to do about them is very helpful.

A focus is on keeping any tools as simple as possible whilst at the same time aiming for a maximum benefit, as you won't be inclined to use complex techniques when you are feeling down or distressed.

CBT in Richmond and Remote: Experience and Contributions

I have appeared in numerous publications including The Guardian, Yahoo News, Fortune Magazine, Huffington Post and the Metro Newspaper and have also published in scientific journals (please send any media enquiries towards the mail logo at the bottom of the page or contact me using the "BOOK A Session" link).

I am heavily invested in disseminating many of the valuable insights cognitive behavioural psychotherapies can provide towards the general public.

I have also run many individual and group treatment programmes (OCD, Anxiety and Depression) at the world famous Priory Hospital whilst working there as a full-time Psychotherapist and own the London based therapy referral service seekapsych.com and the therapy room rental website seekaroom.com
I am experienced in treating clients as diverse as students to senior policy makers. I offer psychotherapy in both German and English and I have been practising as a psychotherapist since 2012 on a full time professional basis. I offer therapy sessions over the phone, through in-person therapy in Richmond and also online based CBT.

My training mirrors that which is required to become a psychotherapist or clinical psychologist in Germany in that I have a BSc (Hons.) in Psychology, an MA in Intelligence Research. I started my CBT training at the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre and hold a PGDip in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy which has led full accreditation with the BABCP.

Online CBT and in Richmond: Understand Yourself and Make Changes

People have different needs and it can be hard to know what kind of psychotherapy is suitable for yourself. Some keep experiencing bad relationships which in turn can lead to bitterness and withdrawal.

Others find that their constant pleasing in order to avoid being disliked gets them disliked even more, whilst some experience consistent distress or anxiety throughout their lives.

Understanding what exactly is going on can be very important in order to be able to successfully address your difficulties, as this creates the basis  to effectively address your difficulties and in some cases creates a life worth living in the first place.

Whether you are looking for private OCD therapy or generally want to get a handle on things, don't just endure life but
create a life that propels you instead of holding you down.

Do you offer telephone counselling & Online therapy?
My style of CBT works equally well no matter whether you want to do therapy online or the phone. I have been helping people work on difficulties such as their OCD through both online therapy and in person sessions. Clients are often surprised as to how effective remote based CBT can be. Feel free to contact me should you have any questions about this.
What do i need to look out for when looking for therapy near me?
You need to make sure that your therapist is qualified and experienced. Also see if your therapist is specialised in the areas you are seeking treatment for. The British therapy market is unregulated and anyone can call themselves a therapist.

When looking for online CBT in the UK or for in-person therapy in Richmond, make sure you take your time and find someone who works for you.
How much do sessions cost?
Remote Sessions Cost 95 GBP and In-Person Sessions Cost 110 GBP. Most private insurers cover therapy with me.
What is babcp accreditation?
I am a fully accredited CBT therapist by the BABCP. This is the most prestigious organisation for accrediting CBT therapists and requires strict standards in order to be recognised by them. They are the accrediting body for the Professional Standards Authority and have very stringent accreditation requirements.

If you look for CBT Therapy in London (Richmond) it is important to be either fully accredited to practice by either the The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
For how long have you been practising?
I have been running a private practice offering both CBT Therapy Online and in Richmond since 2012. Both approaches work well and most difficulties can be addressed successfully.
DO I NEED TO PREPARE ANYTHING FOR CBT THERAPY IN RICHMOND?
No matter if you suffer from Anxiety, Stress or OCD, you don't need to prepare anything for your first therapy session in Richmond or for online pursued CBT therapy. As long as you're open and willing to understand and work on your problems.

When attending therapy sessions, it is always important to not be intoxicated or chew Chewinggum. It is important to actively engage in sessions whilst being motivated to want to change things. CBT with me works by practising things in between sessions and then reviewing and adjusting things further. This will allow you to understand yourself much more and develop a toolkit for the many of the difficulties you may face currently and in the future.
